Lifting Spirits in South OC; The Circle in Action
A few examples of Chabad's community outreach efforts in our community this week:
2 Jewish inmates who are serving time in county jail were visited, a homeless couple was given a night’s stay in a local motel, 3 families received a camp scholarship, a teen was counseled on direction in life, legal help and referral, helped family with medical emergency, job search and counseling, divorce attorney referral, helped get kosher food for inmates, a young man who is ill was visited and a few community people received spiritual counseling.

Camp Gan Israel Staff Training Begins
Intense training has begun for the new staff at CGI. This training program prepares them for the upcoming 6 weeks of super summer fun. Safety procedures, camp activities, camper medical information, trip and park rules and much more are covered in this course.
Every year camp has a theme that runs throughout the camp adding much excitement and fun to the Jewish experience at CGI. “It is very cool, upbeat and exciting”, was all the tight lipped counselors would say about this year’s theme.
Camp begins this Monday and continues for 6 weeks. For more information about camp or to register online go to www.silvergan.com.
Adult Education News:
New JBSE Series to Begin
A new JBSE (Jewish Bible Study Experience) series has been announced. It will begin July 26th and run for 4 weeks. More details will be announced shortly.
Torah Talk Update
The weekly Torah Talk group has gotten off to a great start. The class focuses on the weekly Torah portion with emphasis on the oral Torah’s comments and insights. The class is open to all and is lay led by Jeff Rosenthal. The class usually meets every Tuesday night from 7:30-9pm. This weeks class is on Wednesday, June 30th. No prior background or knowledge is necessary.
Kabbalah Class on Saturday Mornings
The weekly Kabbalah class by Rabbi Marcus is going strong. A few years ago the class began studying the Tanya and they are nearly finished the first book. The discussions that come up cover a variety of topics; some examples from last week: The movie Avatar and Kabbalah, the kabbalistic meaning of free choice and the meaning of Jewish choseness. This class meets every Saturday morning from 9-10:15 am. All are welcome.
