What (Jewish) Women Want... JWC's Got!
Wed. Sept. 21, 2011
The twist is...there IS no twist. Never braided dough in your life? Nevermind, because for the High Holidays we make Challah loaves round, and add delicious sweet raisins or chocolate chips for a sweet year. Learn why making Challah for Shabbat & Holidays is one of the three most important mitzvot for women. While we're mixing and kneading, Bassie Marcus will delve into the deeper meaning of this mitzvah and teach its special significance to upcoming Rosh Hashana. There will be delicious challah already baked for us to eat too, along with several delicious dips, salads, kugel and for a sweet New Year's treat...honey cookies! Come hungry...for knowledge, sisterhood and food, of course!
Wed. Nov. 16, 2011
L.A. writer, singer, filmmaker & humorist Chava Tombosky comes to CJC to lead us in a condensed workshop about how to embrace our individual Jewish journey & discover our true self worth. Plus, she'll teach us the seven steps to achieving eternal harmony without investing in countless self-help books, gurus or call-in radio personalities. Come listen & laugh with Chava as she uses her life experiences to reveal timeless wisdom & inspiration. Knishes, salads, bruschetta & more will help us all achieve internal satiation... at least until dessert!
Wed. Jan. 25, 2012
Our Special Guest Speaker, Ruth Klein is a nationally acclaimed author, business and lifestyle expert, and is a much sought-after public speaker, consultant & coach. We are delighted that Ms. Klein is coming to our JWC to share her practical tips & techniques to improve time management & minimize stress that you can put to work immediately! Become healthier, happier and more relaxed by enlisting Ruth's smart advice and successful strategies. Motivating and fun, you will be impressed & empowered by this diva's dynamic presentation! Her popular books will also be available for purchase. Delicious winter soups with a variety of salads, etc. will also help soothe stresses & warm hearts.
Wed. March 21, 2012
Everything you wanted to know about intimacy in Judaism but were afraid to ask! Bassie will present some 'straight talk' about this often elusive subject and indeed answer any questions you work up the courage to ask! Discover a way of thinking about intimacy that not only heightens excitement & desire but makes relationships feel fresh and new through the decades. We will also be creating some lovely floral oils to add romance to our own love lives, or simply to please your own olfactory senses. A salad bar with oodles of add-ons will be our featured menu, with an assortment of sides. Plus, because of tonight's topic - a sinfully sensuous chocolate dessert!
Wed. May 16th, 2012
Zoom Back in Time/Time to Zumba!
Feel the heartbeat of our foremothers and hear their timely messages when we are visited, in the flesh, by strong biblical women of the Torah. They each have a message for us from their unique, often harrowing experiences and the lessons we can learn are as enduring as the Torah itself. Then feel the beating of your own heart keeping time with exhilarating Zumba music as we are instructed in simple dance steps in the latest exercise phenomenon. Dress comfortably, kick off your shoes and cha, cha, cha your way to a happy place! A fabulous spring salmon salad will be our dinner, along with other amazing salads and nibbles galore!
All events start at 7:00 PM.
